Course Credits Are Provided by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography 10 SDMS CME
Complete Hands-On Scanning Objectives:
- Identify and list anatomy.
- Identify and describe normal anatomy within the ultrasound images.
- Assemble protocol static and real time images for diagnostic interpretation.
- Practice the art of scanning techniques used to differentiate between true anatomy echo and artifact.
- Identify common pathology imaged.
- Write annotations within the ultrasound images.
- Outline protocol anatomy.
8:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Systematic and complete focused hands-on scanning.
- Participants will hold the transducer while given direct instructional hands-on scanning techniques for imaging tendons, muscle, ligaments and nerves.
- Teaching instruction on techniques that are used to obtain the best ultrasound image.
- Static and real-time imaging will demonstrate anisotropy artifact (oblique beam artifact).
- 12:00 lunch will be provided.
1:00 pm – 5:30 pm
- Resume systematic hands-on scanning.
- Participants will practice the art of imaging the anatomy based on skill and knowledge of MSKUS.
- Advanced course training may follow once demonstration for skill and knowledge with protocol images of normal anatomy is accomplished.
- Focusing on imaging pathology of the joint with the ability to demonstrate protocol images and identify the anatomy.
- Workshops & Hands-On Guidance For Needle Aspirations/Injections.
- Course outline will follow curriculum for workshops with the inclusion of hands-on guidance for needle aspirations/injections.
- Explaining and demonstrating the techniques used to visualize the needle tip with ultrasound and guiding it to a focal point within a prop.
